Strawberry Tinybirdmen: 2023 to present, five generations

How it started ⬇

How it’s going ⇧

The first strawberry was Tinybirdman 23.045, made in Chicago in 2023.

The foliage was pure turqoiuse and the seeds polka dots instead of teardrops.

In early 2024, three Strawberry Birbauble prototypes were made with Scarva Earthstone Glacier porcelain.

This next iteration experimented with layering darker pinks on the body as well as adding shadows beneath the leaves and seeds. The face was changed to have black eyes and a mouth, for more expression.

Tinybirdman 24.019 was made shortly after:

The turquoise was reformulated to be a bit lighter and the seeds becage shaded teardrops.

In order for a more satisfactory distinction between the green of the leaves and the pink of the berry, changes were made in the modeling stage of the body.

This resulted in Birbauble BB.047, below:

The mixture of turquoise and yellow for the green was reformulated for a higher percentage of yellow.

The pink of the body was a deeper shade than the previous incarnation and the piece was altogether less washy.

Work then began on a form with a petal-collar that could double as the base form for a flower as well.

This more time-consuming form was first tested out as a hybrid blue strawberry / daisy Tinybirdman seen below:

While not strawberry colored, this piece tested the feasibility underglaze clean border of color at the petal crease without worrying about two colors at once.

Once this piece was successfully fired, work began on the strawberry prototypes:
Gum solution was needed to mix in with both the pink and the green underglazes to prevent the collection of fluid in the crevasse.

These two used a much more yellowish green than their predecessors for a nice spring green.

The final and most recent iterations (May 2024) can be seen below:

The next step will be a making a legged version, with slightly more turquoise than yellow foliage.
